Fabulous Friday- Katy Perry Color Pop Lashes

It's Friday! What up people, so today I am going to share with you my new favorite lashes. But, first, some back story. A couple months ago, as a gift, I went and had some semi-permanent lashes put in. It was cool, they weren't as full as I would have liked them but I knew if I kept getting them filled in that eventually they would get to where I needed them to be. Let me also add, for those of you who have never had them, it is a long process. It took 3 hours as each extension is put on lash by lash.
It was date night with my hubby.
Notice on pic to the right that lashes are on the thin side.

Long story short, as my natural lashes fell out, so did the fullness of the look. I was on a tight budget that would not allow me to spend $50 on the fill-in, so I eventually just snatched out the rest. That was in July and my lashes have yet to recover from the improper removal, so needless to say, I have been wearing falsies every since.

So fast forward to my birthday weekend (second weekend in October. I treated myself to a tiny haul at Ulta, which included a pair of Eylure Katy Perry Color Pop Eyelashes. They had my fav color, purple so I had to get them. I noticed they were a little thick and not as movable as the Ardell's but I was still able to work them to fit my lash line perfectly.

Eylure

Info:
The regular price is $7, but I got mine on sale for $4. The purple layer is underneath the black, so the color is really subtle. I wore them for an entire month with no bending on the ends (which usually happens because of the way I sleep).

My routine:
I wear them for a week, take them off, clean off the old glue, wash my eyes really good and put them back on. I didn't use the glue that came with it, which was the clear adhesive, I used the dark Ardell adhesive I already had.

The Looks:

After years of Whispies, these are my new favorite strip lashes. Have you tried them? What do you think?

All I want for Christmas is...make-up

It's the first week of December and in a perfect world, all the gifts I need to get are not only purchased, but wrapped beautifully and sitting under my Christmas Tree. Unfortunately for me I do not have a single solitary gift in my possession (unless you count the layaway) and I already know that due to some unforeseen costs with my car, I will be in the mad rush at the mall the weekend before Christmas trying to check everybody off my list.

So if you are anything like me and you still have some gifts to get, let me help you out a little bit. I'm going to give you a few ideas to get the make-up lover, or even the make-up virgin for Christmas. (Most of these items are on my wish list too, so for those who know and love me enough to buy me a gift...hint, hint.)

My new favorite foundation brush

I love this brush. It is a Sonia Kashuk Complexion Perfector. It is part of her Spring/ Summer 2012 line sold at Target for $18.99. I am normally a round sponge applicator girl when it comes to foundation. But, in the effort to make some tiny upgrades I started looking for some new ways to apply my foundation. Also, I was growing tired of buying and storing all those sponges. (They say they are washable, but who has time for all that. I barely wash my brushes on the regular.)

I bought the Basically U Super Blender Elliptical Sponge at Ulta at $5, it's the cheaper version of the Beauty Blender and it worked, but again, the cleansing process left little to be desired. I don't care for the flat foundation brushes for some reason for applying foundation, although they are great for days when I'm doing a concealer only coverage. I needed something flat and dense. My MAC 130 brush is great, but I always had to follow up with another brush or my fingertips to blend under the eyes or around the edges of my face. Yes, I was being difficult. With 10-15 minutes to get ready for work, I needed a brush that was a one for all. And this week I found it.

We are going through a slight heat wave this week with temps up to 99 degrees, so I have been doing the lightest coverage possible with either my Mary Kay Tinted Moisturizer or Maybelline Mineral Power Liquid Foundation, (which is discontinued I believe but I found it at my local Bed, Bath and Beyond for like $4.) So anyway, I just pour a two chocolate chips sized amount on the brush end, swipe it across my forhead, down my cheeks and across my chin and I go back up and blend. Then I wet the sponge tip a little and do a press and roll motion to blend under my eyes and around the curves of my face if needed. I think I might buy another one for my professional kit ;)

Wishing all my beauty queens
Love, peace and Soul Deep Beauty!
